These look much worse in person than they do on the posters. Before you ask, YES, they really do offer toppings such as “tuna and corn” and “blueberry and cheese”; and NO, I did not try one. Blok M mall, Jakarta, Indonesia.

Flying to Bali

December 25, 2010 1 comment

The Khalerias are due to land in about an hour. I spent most of the day figuring out transport to Bali for New Years, which was unexpectedly difficult. Trains are completely sold out; every bus operator I called was sold out or extremely expensive.

I tried a quick search for flights again (we have been trying twice daily for about a week) and hit the jackpot. Not only is it a direct flight, but it’s half the cost of train/bus transportation, and of course will take only two hours instead of two days!

I’m also excited about a potential aerial view of Mt. Bromo, a volcano in East Java that started spewing ash and smoke last month.

Just one metro stop, an airport shuttle bus, a two-hour international flight, another bus, and one taxi later…I’m in Jakarta, Indonesia! Now I’m off to explore what this land has for lunch.
